These terms of service ("Terms") govern access to and use of the HanziMemo app. By creating an account, you accept the Terms in full.
1. Purpose of the service
HanziMemo is a Mandarin Chinese learning app aligned with the HSK 3.0 syllabus, offering spaced repetition, mock exams, handwriting, dictionary and custom lists.
2. User account
- Sign-up requires a valid email address and a password.
- You are responsible for keeping your credentials confidential.
- One account per person. Account sharing is forbidden.
- You must be at least 15 years old (or have the consent of a legal guardian).
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- bypass security measures, scrape or massively extract content;
- use the app for illegal, fraudulent purposes, or to infringe others' rights;
- inject offensive, defamatory or hateful content in public lists or usernames;
- resell, sublicense or reproduce the learning content without permission.
4. Intellectual property
All content (interface, code, illustrations, structured lists) is protected. A personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable license is granted to you for the duration of your use of the service.
5. Service availability
The publisher makes every effort to ensure availability but offers no guarantee of uninterrupted access. Maintenance may cause temporary interruptions.
6. Pricing & subscription
HanziMemo offers a free tier (HSK 1 + 15 new cards/day) and an optional Premium subscriptionunlocking HSK 2 to 6 and unlimited cards. The subscription is sold via Apple's In-App Purchase on iOS:
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Manage or cancel your subscription anytime from your Apple ID settings (Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions).
- You can restore an active subscription from the Premium screen using Restore Purchases.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
7. Termination
You can delete your account at any time from settings. The publisher may suspend or close an account in case of breach of the Terms, with prior notice when possible.
8. Limitation of liability
HanziMemo is provided "as is" for learning purposes. The publisher cannot be held liable for results in any official exam (HSK or otherwise), nor for data loss arising from abnormal use of the service.
9. Governing law
These Terms are governed by French law. Failing amicable settlement, any dispute will be brought before the competent courts of the publisher's domicile, subject to mandatory provisions to the contrary.
10. Consumer mediation
